Choosing Integral Color Concrete For Durability

By Patty Goff

Trends in fashion and decor are always changing. Thankfully, these changes to add two more interest in life, making things so much more exciting. There is also the new ideas that are turned into reality thanks to technology advances. For instance, consider how far concrete has come. There are however new ways and places in which it can be applied. Before making any decisions, check out the many reasons to choose integral color concrete. It can all begin with increasing property value.

Trends come and go, but timeless design is something that stays on forever. In order to have that, something has to be beautiful, as well as durable. Unfortunately for the longest time, no one really considered the beauty that can exist in concrete. Reasons for this are simple, as it was always considered a ground surface or cover in landscaping and industrial buildings.

Before, it was just bland, far from attractive, and quite bitterly cold. Then one day, through the changes in technology, paints, and so on they made it beautiful when they added color. It could be any one of the many that the consumer decides to use, and then it is protected with a sealer to provide longevity.

The idea was so creative it caught on on every level. Regardless of the design scheme, or even the consumers financial backgrounds, everyone found attractive and wanted this idea implemented into their own homes or offices. Since then, concrete counters in kitchens and bathrooms have become more sought after, as everyone is looking for more custom look.

Because this particular application is done by hand, there is no way to duplicate it, meaning everything is unique. That's one of the reasons why so many consumers are attracted to it. The other reason is because they can have a custom finish, with either glossy or matte.

With integral color, the idea is to incorporate the shade into the concrete while it is mixed. In doing so, it creates a thorough shade right through, whether it's precast or cast in place. All the while, it will not affect the integrity, or the durability and longevity of the cement. In the end, the customer gets a consistent shade throughout the space, regardless of the size or thickness.

This type of concrete is also attractive because, not only is it beautiful, but also easy to maintain. Even if it seems cold, as an idea, its color warms up with great ease. Plus, there are other beautiful accessories that can be used to warm it up further. This could be in the form of flowerbeds in the exterior applications, as well as outdoor rugs.

It can be used in home interiors, building interiors and exteriors just the same. In a residential setting, and in-ground pool can be completed being surrounded by a lovely shade that ties in the overall look of the space. This is what creates seamless and timeless design. What's more is that it can also be made to mimic popular types of stone, or even hardwood. Concrete cannot be compared, when beautifully colored, to any other flooring option, thanks to its cost-effectiveness, and easy maintenance. It's probably why so many town halls, new condo buildings, and attractive office buildings use it so much.
