Tithing Is Not Always Financially Rewarding

By Laurend David

Tithing is a battle of the heart, mind and soul. It is a battle because people are often concerned about their wealth and what happens with it. When someone doesn't tithe, they actually get less. You may have witnessed your car breaking down and having no money to fix it. Perhaps something else happened where you felt like your money was not in the right place. There is a lot of negative influence that happens when you don't tithe. Many spiritual believers say that they experience little success when they are not giving 10% of their money to the church.

In the Old Testament, it is said that God told Abraham to tithe 10% of all that he owned. In return, God said that he would pour out a blessing for him and bless his home with many blessings. He would receive so many blessings that he would not have enough room to count them all. However, many Christians that tithe say that it doesn't work. Many Christians say that when they tithe, their finances often get worse or nothing out of the ordinary happens. However, you have other Christians that say they are wealthy because of tithing? What do you believe and why? There seems to be a different response to spiritual tithing.

First, tithing is a belief that God will always provide for you. Tithing often takes time to do and requires a lot of effort. If you are making $5,000 a month, the Bible says that $500.00 of that must go to the church. Whatever God allows your household to have, you must tithe. It is said that Christians that do not do this will not receive protection over their finances. How true is this and does it still apply today? The New Testament does not demand that a Christian must tithe. However, it says to be cheerful in your giving. However, we must look at the fact that Jesus Christ himself tithed. He even said to give to God what is God's and to the government what is theirs. This mean to pay your taxes and pay God as well.

Satan is the deceiver of this world. His will is to make you think that God doesn't love you or care for your needs. He is the master of having your life turned upside down. Most people that have financial difficulties blame God and often say that he doesn't provide enough for them. However, this is not true. The Bible says that God knows our needs and provides for us at his own will. God gives to us what he believes we need. God always shows us that there is something that we are failing to see. The Lord always shows us that there are new beginnings happening on a weekly basis.

If you are experiencing extreme loss, you can actually ask yourself how life changes for you on a regular basis. Always think of yourself as being the kind of person that can change as faith changes. Life is always a new beginning for most people. Most people have the idea that their life moves forward because of what they are giving to their church. Tithing does work and it keeps your faith strong with God.
