Reasons To Consider A Custom Mural Design

By Debra Baker

It's important in today's world to stand out from the crowd and express your individuality. You can do this on many levels, from personal to business. Being able to capture someone's attention with great visuals can help propel you or your business into the spotlight and a custom mural design might be exactly what you need.

Custom murals are becoming more and more popular for brands with specific target markets, usually the younger, active generation. Sportswear brands have been using custom designs on their walls throughout stores globally to attract a new wave of customers, such as Converse. Not only is this a great business move, but it also provides a great outlet for artists to showcase their work.

A custom design could work wonders in a business space. It should be thought of as part of the decor and will become an important component to the overall look of the space. Choosing colors and images wisely is important, as these elements can and will affect the mood of the location, which will influence both employees and clientele alike.

Artwork can be used in this way to attract attention before a client even comes through your doors. Consider the effect of a mural in a public area, on a wall facing a main road. A bright and intriguing design will spark anyone's curiosity to find out more about the space or building. A great design will invite the viewer to step inside.

Murals work great at home, as well. You might think that this is only something you can put in a child's bedroom or play room, but a really great mural could be just the thing to add to any number of rooms. Think about having a conversation piece in an area where most social activity happens like the dining room. What about putting a mural on the ceiling for an interesting effect?

It's always best to let children have some say in any artwork that goes on their walls. You could even let them help with the design or the actual painting. This type of activity is a great way to get a group or community together for a common cause, such as livening up a school or old building in the neighborhood.

Your mural can be abstract or as specific as you like. Younger kids generally lean towards things with brighter colors, shapes and animal themes. Something psychedelic is great in a space like a dance studio or where yoga is done, but an office space might need something more streamlined and specific. It's a good idea here to use something that blends into the company's key objectives.

You don't have to be an artist yourself to get something like this done. There are many individuals out there looking for outlets to express their own creativity or who will work with you to create something unique and special and to your requirements. They can be found through artists' forums and even by asking around. Who knows, you may have a creative family member or friend willing to do this type of work that you never knew about!
