It is not point in dealing with the addiction without talking about the main issue otherwise they will more than likely have a crisis in their lives.

They need to know how to support them, and they need to know more about what the patient is faced with. The therapist will also be able to find out more about how the family relate to one another. Often, families drift apart because of the addiction.
